Kingston – a paradise under the palms
Founded in the late seventeenth century by Englishmen in Kingston, which is the capital of Jamaica, we associate with paradise beaches, impressive palm trees and the ubiquitous from the heat. And rightly so! Do not forget, however, that outside of major tourist center is the city is also full of fascinating history and interesting cultural centers.
The city has had a significant luggage past. Due to its location repeatedly been destroyed by hurricanes or flooding. Hurricane Ivan last ten years has damaged a large part of the capital. By specific conditions in Kingston story is not told through tangible works of art and historic buildings, but word of mouth, from generation to generation.
Already by the end of the world from Kingston will be bound by one man – Bob Marley. The famous musician lived in the town, and his former mansion now decorated interesting (not only for fans of reggae) museum dedicated to his memory. At 56 Hope Road was situated in his time cult record label Tuff Gong. It’s a treat for any fan of music.
Being in Jamaica can not deny the local cuisine. Great showcase of local specialties is Scotchies Jerk Center. In this restaurant you will know all the flavors governing hundreds of years on the island. Nowhere do you eat so perfectly cooked dried beef, and hosts a fish to be quite legendary!
The beauty of Kingston is best seen from the top. That is why we recommend you to Strawberry Hill, a beautiful hotel situated on a nearby hill. Only with it you can see how small, dense, diverse and fascinating is the city. No wonder that tourists like to go back there!
